COLOMBIA - Bucaramunga, Giron
Silvia's friend Nacho took us out to the ‘club’ (a country club) where we had the best empanadas ever (Inga spent the rest of the trip trying to find others even half as good), and then we went out to Giron, which is a pretty little colonial town with cobbled roads and several plazas.
The whole place was lit up for Christmas and we got to see people partying it up on a Chiva (Chivas are open-sided buses that they load a mariachi type band onto and then go on a ‘pub crawl’ drinking and singing the whole way – mongrels, but awesome just the same).
We sat on the steps in front of an old church and ate barbecued corn/maize and then had a traditional Colombian street food snack - two micky mouse wafers (Ummm, evil americans colonising Columbian snacks) with condensed milk stuff/cheese spread inside all out of a plastic basket on the roadside.
